Skidoo GTX 500SS LED Light Kit / Joe Florida – Lights in Action

October 30th, 2009 by admin

Installed on a snowmobile, this video is of the led lights in action of a 72 LED Cluster (216 individual LED) light kit by Joe-Florida (ledaccentlights.net). Note: Since I posted this they have added more clusters to 90LED but still the same kit.

This kit is designed for motorcycles, but I will be installing it on a 2005 Skidoo GTX snowmobile. It is waterproof, flexible, comes with quick connectors, and a 15 multi-function remote.

This Video is of the lights during daytime and at night in a garage setting.

How do I install a custom mirror with LED flashing lights on an 1997 Maxima?

October 28th, 2009 by admin

I have a 1997 black Maxima with a damaged side mirror. I was looking at eBay and found a set of mirrors with LED lights that flash when you signal for a turn (like that of the Benz). My concern is installing them. Since the stock mirrors don’t have flashing lights, how am I supposed to wire the mirrors to be able to get a message from the car when it is signaling?

You would need to feed the wires through the mirror connection to the door and through the door into the door jamb and through the fender to the turn signal and slice into the wires there. Repeat for the other side.

Wher can I buy a solar outdoor light that complies with The National Electrical Code in USA?

October 28th, 2009 by admin

I built a new deck in my house with a new entrance door. I want to use a solar operated outdoor light so I don’t have to apply for an electrical permit from the city. Can somebody give me the manufacturer and catalog number?

I don’t think that the NEC has anything to do with an independant solar powered light. They might have a U.L. listing but that’s a different thing entirely.

I would assume that any solar powered lighting unit that you find available at a retail store would have any necessary agency approvals.

You don’t need an electrical permit, nobody will inspect it. When you think about it, we are just talking about a flashlight with a solar panel to charge the battery. No permit needed. Firearms yes, flashlights no.

What can I do with the top of solar lights (spikes have been broken by the children) in my garden?

October 28th, 2009 by admin

The children have snapped the tops off my garden solar lights whilst playing football. Any ideas for using the broken tops please? The LEDs and solar panel bit still work they just sit on the floor and get more damaged.

Be creative and turn them into hanging solar lights, my dogs did the same thing . I purchased some plastic "jelly jars" outside lamp covers. Then placed the top over them, attached a wire hanger and now they hang from the trees. The dogs can’t get to them and it scatters low light through the yard. Maybe you could reuse them that way.

LED Christmas lights – Can you put them on a dimmer?

October 28th, 2009 by admin

My family is thinking of switching to LED christmas tree lights. out only qualm is the fact that they are SO bright. Does anyone know if you can put LED lights on a dimmer? or, for people who have them, are they rediculously bright on a tree?

LEDs can be put on a dimmer. However, some styles of LEDs will flicker like a strobe and that may drive you crazy. If that happens, get a strand of conventional lights and plug them to the LEDs to generate an electrical load which will eliminate flicker or flash.

If you have other questions about the use and applications of LED lights, I would suggest that you consider joining the forum at http://www.PlanetChristmas.com Membership is free and you are not spammed after joining.

Why can’t Christmas lights run from batteries?

October 28th, 2009 by admin

Does anyone know enough about electronics to answer? I just hung my lights and thought how much easier it would be without connecting lights end to end and worrying about popping a fuse. Solar powered lights would be even better

It would cost too much money, honey.
