This tracker is lashed up from two solar cells salvaged from solar garden lights and a maxon geared motor.
That’s it. No frills.
Accuracy is around +/- 10 degrees.
If anyone thinks of a way I can get it to very simply auto-reset at the beginning of each day, I would love to hear about it!

These are a couple of battery operated flourescent lights that I made using modified 9 watt CFLs. One runs on 6 volts and one runs on 1.5 volts. The circuits are not mine. I simply used what other people have learned and applied it to my particular needs. It is invention turned into something practical.

I am looking to replace my incandescent brake lights on a trailer with LED lights. My incandescent lights burn out often. I’m afraid there is a short. Would a short damage the LED lights too?
Basic electricity 101.
Shorts do not burn out light bulbs, they pop fuses. There are 4 things that lead to premature light failure. 1.) Vibration 2.) Intermittent open on the B+ or ground side. (Lights don’t like to be turned on and off a lot) 3.) You don’t unplug the trailer before you launch your boat. (Water gets in the lens and cracks the bulb) 4.) People ride the brake.
LEDs sure do open (burn out) from time to time but they could last 10,000 times longer than an incandescent bulb. LEDs sure do short, about 40 milliseconds before they open

I don’t have a back porch light and am not going to attempt to wire it…
I’m looking at solar outdoor lights. I’d just like to hear opinions from those that used them before I make a purchase.
Is it worth it? Are they bright enough? Any other info is appreciated…thanks
in my experience they are very dim. We’ve tried 3 or 4 different styles and they are all really really weak. They work alright for lighting a path or something a little, but if you’re trying to use them as the main lighting source, it might not be enough. Granted the last time we tried them was probably 4 years ago, and maybe they’ve gotten better since then, but the ones we tried were disappointing

Last night i was sat out in my garden having a ciggy. It was a clear night and almost full moon, it got me wondering can the Moon same as the sun when very bright power up any solar garden lights? I didnt have to use my security light where it was so bright with the moon. Any ideas? (i know the sun is behind the moon, so just wondering if its possible.)
cannot. The full moon gives us less than 2 milliwatt per square metre. 2 milliwatt is far too low and 1 square metre is pretty big. if you are just using the moonlight, probably you will need a very huge solar panel to do so.

My big lights that go on the porch I want them to blink. Anyone know any way to do that?
You can buy a controller to make them do different functions. Or if you just want them blinking, try the link. I’ve had one of these for years.
