This Radio Controlled airplane is a scratch built 1936 Lanzo Record Breaker with an eight foot wing span. It is about 12 years old & has seen many configurations from gas powered tow plane, camera ship, autonomous test platform, to video transmitting search plane. In its current configuration, it is a Night Nite flying rc airplane with 30 meters of LED lights.
(I know I said 6 meter in the video, but I was nervous)
Thats a total of one thousand eight hundred individual led lights The motor is a Hacker B-50 L-13 with gearbox, prop is 20X10, thats a 20 inch diameter, with a Castle Creations 80 AMP speed control and a six cell 5000 Mah Thunder Power Extreme V2 li-po motor battery.
The LED are powered by three separate 3 cell 2100 Mah li-po batteries. The ship was flown at the SCCMAS facility in Morgan Hill, California by Walter Colby. Don’t complain about the camera work I found the camera guy in the home depot parking lot. wcolby HD www.sccmas.org
The LEDs draw approximately 1.2 amps for every 5 meters at 11.1Volts.
I have 5 meters of red & 5 meters of green in the wing run by a single 2100 Mah 3 cell lithium polymer battery.
I have 5 meters of blue on the tail & 5 meters of white on the sides of the fuselage run by another 2100 Mah 3 cell lithium polymer battery pack.
And finally there is 10 meters of white LED on the bottom of the fuselage run by a third 2100 Mah 3 cell lithium polymer battery.
I am not an electrician but the lights run for about 50 minutes, the part I appreciate is that when one battery dies the others continue to operate.
The airplane motor & servo control is powered by a 6 cell 5000 mah battery that should fly the plane for about 45 minutes.
This was the first flight for this configuration so the flight was made after sunset,.this aircraft is a night flyer but no claim is made that it is flying in the dark. granted it is not pitch black sky , that is not my fault, if you feel cheated, that’s not my fault either.

I am planing on putting LED lights inside my motorcycle to light the whole thing up red. I know its illegal in NY to put underglow on cars but im not sure about motorcycles. Can someone please let me know if its illegal for bikes or not?
Probably.
With very few exceptions, motorcycles must follow the same laws as automobiles.

I have a cheap four color diode from a rechargeable solar outdoor light that I want to install inside my motorhome and run it off my 12v battery bank but I need to know how to reduce the power so that it will not burn out the diode.
It works fine without the solar cell except that it wears out the 1.5 AA batteries that it uses.
I am sure that it would take forever to run down the six 6v golf cart batteries that I use for power in my RV, especially since they get recharged every time I run the RV.
Any answers out there?
How do I do that?
Are you sure you wouldn’t rather just use a NiMH battery charger that plugs into your cigarette lighter, and put the AA battery into your LED light?
It’s certainly possible to put a dropping resistor between the 12V battery and your 1.5V light to make it work, but it would be a bit of work if you don’t already know what you’re doing. If you have an electrical engineer friend, they can get a DVM to measure the current drawn by your light, then help you go shopping for the right value resistor at (say) Radio Shack.

Any brand is good. Just check for voltage (or wattage – I am not sure on this) – they come in different strength. It depends how bright you want the lights to be. Usually you can buy them in garden centres, or DIY stores with garden centre, but these places would usually stock cheep and cheerfull lights. If you want something prittier or desighner stuff (you know, you can get brick-shaped solar lights, then you just incorporate them in your garden path or wall design) then a lighting centre is the place to go. They have loads of them on ebay too, especially in ebay stores.

I bought a few new strands of LED lights this year, and I am wondering if the old style lights can be plugged into them, or is that just defeating the purpose of having the energy savers? Will it short my fuses or cause any damage?
Yes -

I work at a department store and we sell LED Christmas lights (generally for your tree) but were sent no information about them. I know they use less energy and last "a long time" and are non-replaceable but what other info can I give my customers?
I’d love to be able to tell them how long they will last or how they work. If one blows, do the rest go as in on a string of fairy lights?
Should I be pushing the LED lights or steering people back toward the traditional replaceable fairy lights?
Thanks!
You are right – unlike regular filament lamps which have a wire which gives off light due to this igniting withing a vacuum, the LED’s have a harmless gas within them which ignites but gives off no heat.
LED’s work on low voltage so there is no danger of electric shock and no risk of fire hazard and will last many tears for decent types.
Filament lamps also have the disadvantage that they can be easily broken being glass whereas LED’s are made of hard plastic.
Individual lights rarely fail so they are not meant to be removed or replaced.
Many of these come in from China now, as you probably know, but are not always reliable in terms of life expectancy; spending a bit more on something decet will be money well spent.

key considerations:
* luminaire output – BTW, most newer solar lights use LEDs. on average a light comes with 1-3 LEDs.
* solar panel storage capacity – consider how much charge it can hold & can it effectively drive the output of all LEDs in the lights.
* separate solar panels that can be wired to multiple lights. – if a panel can be wired to 2 lights, you may get more ‘light time’ if you only hook up 1 light to the panel. (this is the trick I use)
* the amount of direct light it needs to charge.
a good detailed explanation is found on the web at: http://chinese-school.netfirms.com/reviews/solar-landscape-lighting.html

We have them. They offer very little light which is good and bad. They are not bright enough to entertain at night but they gently highlight the landscape.

Once upon a time in a low populated neighborhood in Antarctica it was a very quiet and safe place.
All the people were friendly. There were hardly any crimes ever but they’re was sheriffs patrolling the neighborhoods and around it was late December. It was very cold it was always cold snow covered the ground all the time everyone knew each other. It was just like any other place but hidden in the most unexpecting place the roads there are un seeable because of the snow.It was a very peacefull town it was almost like the town was too perfect there weren’t that many places to work but you didn’t have to pay bills, or house payments no house markets their elactricy was powered by solar energy and oil from a generator their was plenty of oil so they never run out ever. They weren’t trapped in this place the people their visited their family’s every year once a year for a month all at the same time. Because their was a time in the year where the sun goes out and its dark for a full month.
4 days till darkness month. Anne says’’ I cant believe it this year went by so quick’’ yes it did go bye quick but hey cant wait to see grandma and grandpa right says Marie (Anne’s mom.) ya I cant wait to see them but why cant we have Christmas at our house this year and have them come down here to see us say ann. Mary says consciously ‘‘that is nonsense its to cold here ‘’. Well I’m off to work ma says tom ‘’son wait before you go can you pick up some groceries for me on your way back from work says Maria sure mom says tom and before Maria says goodbye the door is closed and Hes off he gets into his red Chevy pick up and he drives down to the police station to greet his friends and puts on his police uniform and his badge and hat from his locker. Tom is 22 a son of Maria and a brother to Anne. What inspired Tom to become a police officer is the disappearance of his father.
He stays on the case and act secretly as both a cop and a detective by going through the police reports files when everyone leaves the police station. Today he was caught going through the files without permission and was asked to leave why would they make me leave tom says’’ Ive been working as a police officer for 10 years I should at least be able to know what happened to my father’’
1 days till darkness month. Tom walks in the house a day later quietly and then stumbles into his mom where have you been Have you been lurking around the files again like I told you before we don’t know what happened to your father says Maria. How did you know where I was and please mother if you no anything about it tell me I know you are lying you know what happened!!
Ok I should have told you along time ago Tom but you were to young and you wouldn’t understand
But now your getting older I got to tell you someday well ……do you know how we leave every time of the month of December before darkness month we sent you and your sisters to your grandparent’s house and we stayed here to raise money for charity to send to the children in need. That day when the sun went down and these white paled people took your father and drag him off a cliff and he was buried in the snow and we never saw him again. Tom sighed and said’’ im staying here tomorrow hurry board a plane before they’re booked. Toms mother was shocked and broke out in tears she was worried for her son but believed he would make it and trusted him. The next day Toms mothers and sister Anne left to said goodbye to Tom and wished him luck and left to the airport They were the first their they grabbed their tickets and got into a plane a plane to California
Many others in Antartica were fleeing their homes to the airport. Its 6;30 pm the sun is going down.
Tom knew what he was going up against was not going to be easy to be defeat so he waited patiently he still saw some people left behind cooking in their houses or shoveling snow or fixing their trucks.
The sun is going down slowly Tom is ready for anything it is dark he goes inside and try to turn on the lights but they are not working know ones electricity was working. It seems like every second its getting darker and darker. Tom goes outside and then he sees a person on a roof with a black and red cape and he yells out to the person ‘’ does your power work if so can you fix mine the figure turns around and glares at tom with its big red glowing eyes t swiftly fly’s towards Tom grabs him and Swings him into the air and he falls on his back he tries to get up but then a boot hits Tom in the head and he is defenseless he is carried away to castle into the far hills of Admiralty Hills he is putting in a jail cell. Lator on he escapes and runs into vampires which his mother was talking about
They’re are two of them he fights them. He first charges into one of them and it blocks his attacks quickly . he keeps fighting he doesn’t give up and so on loll
Extend
So he finds a map in one of their pockets and goes to the cliff his father was pushed over. After 2 hours of frustrating looking he finds a cave and he walks through and he sees a man with a bear coat on he turns around and its his dad. They survive in the cave for a month and head back to the house and every1 is happy and this stories moral is that If you believe you can do it do it and you fail keep trying and trying to you do it .
Creative at least! Honestly it REALLY needs "alittle" work… Sounds like a weird sci-fi movie though.
