can ferrets live outside?
i’m getting a ferret and have a 17 page booklet full of ferret facts but doesn’t say anythings about ferrets living outside. i have a massive undercover area in my back yard coming off the roof of the house, it has big lights and a couch it has rock concreting and grass all around it and when the lights are off i have solar Christmas lights hanging up so they have a little bit of light around when there not sleeping after noon. (I also know everything about ferrets apart from this) thanx
to the first answer, do not listen to them..
ferrets can not live outside in the heat because they dont have sweat glands.. that means they can die really easily
whereas in the cold they can handle it a lot more.. with a few blankets and maybe a heat pad they will do okay
if your cage is completly away from rain and such they can stay outside in the cold but on hotter days they really need to be somewhere cool..
you can google on how to keep a ferret cool in the hotter months and there is a lot of info but dont listen to the other person please..
they can stay outside though.. i wouldnt do it personally because i think its a bit mean but im a huge animal lover and i would give them my mattress and i would sleep on the floor if i had to.. so i think everything is mean like that lol
goodluck though
