    Okay, sorry about …
Okay, sorry about the confusion, I had thought Digi-Key was saying it was original to them in the title by saying “Engineered by Digi-Key”. My mistake.

    Thank you for your …
Thank you for your comment. Digi-Key does not author this project as being original as it was created with the spirit of the holiday in mind. This novel concept has been designed and initiated by many and Digi-Key applauds their efforts.

    I would like to …
I would like to point out, this is not original to Digi-key, Graffiti Research Lab came up with the idea of sticking LEDs on coin cells, then adding magnets and sticking them on buildings. This is basically the same, minus the magnet.

    The battery is a …
The battery is a large mass and it takes a lot of hear to solder to a battery, plus you need to be careful not to damage the battery by over heating it. I would suggest staying with the electrical tape.

    And then I would …
And then I would just use electrical tape to hold the ribbon cable to the battery?

Also, would solder work as a substitute for electrical tape? Or would that be dangerous?

    You would need to …
You would need to use two AA batteries in series. Stack one battery on top of the other or you could use Digi-Key cell holder SBH-321AS-ND, this has a builtin switch and would provide the 3 volts needed to turn on the LED.

Would it work if I …
Would it work if I soldered ribbon cable to the LED legs and then touched the cable to the right ends of a AA battery?
