    Yes, they are supposed to run on DC power. Since AC is Alternating current, this will cause the LED strip to flicker. They will also fail in a short period of time, so try not to run them on AC.

    can i ask i have recently bought some strip lighting with a simple 12v AC power supply and the leds are constantly flickering. Any ideas why? do they have to run off DC power?
