Mars Chocolate North America, the makers of M&M’s candy, together with PSEG Solar Source, unveil an 18-acre solar garden adjacent to their Hackettstown headquarters. The solar garden is capable of generating 2.2 megawatts per hour of clean energy which is equivalent to approximately 20 percent of the plant’s peak energy consumption. Cree LED lights will soon light up kitchens in thousands of homes built by Habitat for Humanity. Last week Cree announced its three-year, $1.5 million pledge to Habitat for Humanity International to provide our newest LED downlight for the kitchens in all new Habitat homes built in the United States.

GE Consumer & Industrial announces that Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc., has replaced approximately 12,000 standard incandescent and halogen lights in more than 150 Red Robin® restaurant locations in the U.S. with new, more efficient 7-watt GE light emitting diode (LED) PAR 20 flood and spot lights.
Red Robin is using the GE LED lights for general down lighting applications that require a high quality of light, measured as lamp-to-lamp white LED color consistency.
As of July 2009, it is the largest application of GEs 7-watt LED PAR lamp in a restaurant setting.
The switch helps preserve the ambiance of Red Robin® restaurants and customers ultimate comfort while supporting Red Robins initiatives targeted at saving several hundred thousand dollars annually in lighting energy costs over the life of the new LED lights.
